Providing A Safe & Caring Environment Conducive To Educational Excellence

The first school in Burrton was organized on April 14, 1873.  $1,200 was raised by the newly settled residents of the community for the purpose of building a school house, which was located at 212 South Kansas Ave.  Several different school buildings have stood on the site now occupied by the campus, standing at the head of Burrton Avenue as a symbol of the community's on-going commitment to quality education.

Burrton maintains a traditional elementary school with idea class sizes and a fundamental educational program aimed at building a continuing desire to learn.  Reading assessment scores often exceed the State's standard of excellence.  Elementary students also have access to a modern computer lab, providing opportunities for learning and proficiency in the use of technology.

Burrton Middle School's 7th & 8th grade classes are departmentalized and maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio.  Beyond the core classes, various electives available include band, vocal music, physical education, art, technology lab, industrial arts, and family & consumer sciences.

Burrton High School offers an outstanding opportunity for students to prepare for their future.  Many opportunities exist for students to establish and utilize their leadership skills, and to participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities.  Burrton's graduation rate is higher than the State average, with over 80% of graduates continuing their education.  Burrton students are also able to take ITV classes from Hutchinson Community College, and receive dual high school & college credit.
